Gas Cutting Machine Market: Overview

Gas cutters are machines that use a combination of gas and oxygen to cut materials that are usually metal. These machines are also known as oxygen-fuel cutting machines as they use oxygen in the cutting process. These machines can be used to cut mild steel where the carbon content is limited to 1/10th to 3/10th of 1%. When oxygen is supplied to steel at high temperatures, it rusts quickly, i.e. is burned. Before cutting can take place, the steel must be heated to around 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. This is also known as the ignition temperature. At this temperature, steel reacts readily with oxygen. The whole principle behind gas cutting is the chemical reaction between oxygen and steel.

Gas cutting is used to cut plates ranging in thickness from 0.5mm to 250mm. The gas cutting machine has many industrial applications. It can be used mechanically or manually. The most popular of the various industrial applications are CNC cutting machines. The performance of gas cutting machines in terms of cutting speed and cut quality can be improved by using different fuel gases and nozzles.

The performance of a gas cutting machine also depends to a large extent on the purity of the oxygen used, which is a minimum of 99.5%. An overall reduction in purity of 1 % reduces cutting speed by 25 % and increases gas consumption by 25 %. The automotive, aerospace and defence industries are the largest end users of gas cutting machines. The use of gas cutting machines in CNC machines reduces the overhead and cost of purchasing different types of equipment. The amount of physical space used is also significantly reduced.

Gas Cutting Machine

The limited use of gas cutting technology limits the global gas cutting machine market. Gas cutting technology can only be used for ferrous metals. Furthermore, the large amount of slag generated by the process is another factor affecting the gas cutting machine market.
